About Movably
Movably Inc. was founded on the idea that people should be able to do focused, creative, world-changing work, without sacrificing their health. After years of testing dozens of ergonomic chairs that couldn’t live up to their promises, the Movably team set out to reinvent the modern office chair.
We created Movably to beat other “ergonomic” options
When our CEO Mark Kapij suffered a road cycling accident that left him with a vertebrae fracture which made him more sensitive to extended sitting. After years of spending thousands of dollars on multiple “ergonomic” chairs and not finding anything that helped, Mark wanted to help solve this issue for himself and others in the same boat.
So, Mark teamed up with Jose and Andriy to create a modern deskwork system that allows dynamic movement without interrupting a focused work session. They developed Movably Pro — the only intelligently designed workstation focusing on movement,
Movably Inc. was founded on a simple singular idea: People should be able to do focused, creative, world-changing work without sacrificing their health.
Our values
Movement over posture
We focus on movement, not just posture. Incorporating more movement into the workday can and should be easy for everyone.
Free your body, focus your mind
Instead of interrupting your focus, movement can enhance your focus and productivity. Make each day your best workday.
Health without sacrifice
You shouldn't have to choose between your health and your career. We help you maintain both, without compromise.
Science: First ever ZERO PAIN research outcome!
Today ergonomic equipment is widely marketed with science claims that rarely hold up to scrutiny. We thought, why don’t companies ask the key question- does the product prevent pain? So, we asked the question others are afraid to ask! (and got a surprising answer!)

Meet our team
Mark Kapij
Co-founder
Early in his career Mark developed one of the first 3D vision systems for GM, Toyota, and other major automotive manufacturers, Before starting Movably, Mark co-founded multiple companies, including SoftServe, an engineering/IT firm with 12K employees today, and a standing desk manufacturer sold to companies like Google, Ring, and Grammarly. Mark holds a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering and is an MIT Sloan Fellow.
Jose Chavarria
Co-founder
Jose was pivotal in launching suitX from the Berkeley Robotics and Human Engineering lab, where he designed medical, industrial, and military exoskeletons as a senior lead engineer. He later founded his own product engineering consulting business, helping companies develop proof of concept prototypes. Jose holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley.
We're Moving!
After taking a few days to get used to it I definitely noticed a huge difference in how I fell at the end of a long work day. I am a big fan of being able to stay moving throught the day.
Alex Geiger
Video Producer
Movably is a game changer for ergonomics. It approaches posture and movement differently than any other chair on the market, and provides a user-friendly solution to improve health and wellness. There is mounting scientific evidence suggesting that Movably is the best product available for focused computer work.

Very clever! This is a big problem to solve. I really like the approach...Your solution makes it easier to remove the needs for HAT (height-adjustable) tables and removes the hassle of a chair hanging around when not in use.
Brian Walker
Former CEO, Herman Miller
I really like it. When you first see it, it's a little difficult to understand the benefits. However after using it for a period of 2-3 days I thoroughly enjoy it. the best feature in my opinion is the ability to stand on a padded platform and lean back comfortably while standing. It takes all the strain of your lower back that you normally feel from standing normally. Of course it's nice to be able to sit in different ways as needed as well.
Cody Wambolt
The chair was a second skin after just minutes of using it!
Dan Oblinger
CTO
It took me at least a day to get used to the automated setting I chose (sit/stand only -- not flamingo). Once I got used to it and added extra padding on the bottom for my short height, I really liked it. It was clear when the chair would prompt me to sit/stand and I felt like I was moving around a lot more than I would have been.
Emily Roth
Senior Software Engineer
I’m very impressed. It is very intuitive to use, I felt great the days I used it both physically and with focus, and it never distracted me from work. The only mildly distracting thing about it was the sound it made when moving, but that was easily tuned out. I found it very comfortable in all configurations. It was nice to have the foot/backrest/standing pad even in the standing position.
Nicole Giggey
Loved it. Functionally it was near perfect. My only suggestion would be to allow for the intervals between movements when in auto mode to be custom.
Brandon Revelli
Account Executive
Super cool! I found that the chair makes me feel better after a long day of work, I'm not stumbling out of my office after sitting for hours on end. Its sit/stand/flamingo mechanism is really seamless. I like how it is hands-free.
Saskia Gilmer
Software Engineer at Microsoft
I loved being able to stand and lean back--that was a mode of working that I hadn't ever seen before. The footrest was perfectly positioned for the seated / partially seated modes, too.
Eric Cheng
I love it! Very intuitive, wonderful to stand in, and appreciate the flamingo stance! I actually felt myself looking forward to being at my desk since it was so fun! The automatic function was very helpful in reminding me to switch it up.
Zyaire Levesque
I loved it and felt better and more energy/ less fatigue especially in the afternoon. It did take about 1-2 days to fully get used to, especially with auto mode.
